The 8th and 17th

The 8th and 17th holeThe 8th and 17th hole

The 8th/17th hole is called the Gravel Pits. It is fairly straight and flat, but there are plenty of hazards in the woods and rough, not to mention the duck pond on the left and -- a 2005 innovation -- a ditch stretching almost across the width of the fairway. On the first circuit, the hole is 405 yards long (374 from the yellow tee and 363 from the winter mat) with a par of 4 and stroke index of 2.

From an adjacent tee, the 17th is the same distance but the stroke index becomes 3.
