Winter Rules
Winter rules have now ended, so no more pick, wipe and place (5 May 2008).
LIGHTNING, FOG AND ICE We are not able to use a klaxon to warn members/guests of severe weather conditions. The following policy has been adopted for members to note. Fog and ice The fact that the course may not be officially closed does not warrant that it is fit for play. Players have a duty of care not to behave in such a way that others may be injured by their actions. They also have a duty to take care not to injure themselves. If conditions are foggy and you are unable to see where the ball is likely to land or ground conditions are such that it is impossible to judge how far the ball is likely to travel, DO NOT PLAY! Playing in such conditions is dangerous - players do so at their own risk. Lightning If there is a risk of lightning you are advised to stop play - if in competition, rule 6-8 of the Rules of Golf explains the procedure to be taken. In the absence of a klaxon, play can resume once the threat of lightning has passed. When not in competition, you are still advised to stop play but it is your decision whether to continue or not. Playing in such conditions is dangerous and you do so at your own risk. (notice issued by the Hon. Secretary)
