***ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP SCHEME***
A bold initiative by this go-ahead club is an "associate membership" arrangement which should appeal to golfers who pay green fees to play regularly. Under this scheme, green fee payers get discounted golf if they pay £200 upfront. For a year they will be able to play 18 holes for £12 or nine holes for £9 with the fees being deducted each time from the initial £200 payment - a substantial saving on green fee rates which increased on April 1 2007.
Membership of Woodford Golf Club provides a raft of benefits. Apart from cheaper golf - a mere £7.65 a round if you play twice a week, probably the cheapest testing golf in London - there is the opportunity to enter regular club competitions, to play in matches both home and away against other local golf clubs, to obtain a certified handicap, to dine and to partake in the many varied social activities arranged by the club. In addition members can save appreciably on bar bills, for by using the club-issued swipe card, members get around a 30% discount on normal beer, spirits and wine prices. There is currently no entrance fee for membership. There are mainly three classes of membership for both men and women and the annual subscription rates are:
- 7-day membership...........£796
- 6-day (Sunday-Friday)......£654
Country class membership (resident 50 miles or more from the club) is £75 annually, while becoming a Social member of the club costs only £38.30 a year plus VAT.
Junior membership costs £50 a year for Under-14s, £75 for Under-18s, £175 for Under-21s, £300 for Under-24s, and £450 for Under-26s. Adult full membership subscriptions may be paid by monthly instalments by arrangement with the club Secretary.
